Desmond Island
0800hrs
‘Get some strong sticks’ Carl requested
‘Strong…? Are those not strong?’
‘Strong enough to burrow the soil’
‘Okay’ Liz responded as she bent plucking and picking the fallen rods of firewood. She was humming her favorite song.
Carl was digging the graves of their two sons, Greg and Colly. They had only noticed by the lockets on their necks they had bought during birthdays. Liz was busy fetching sticks to excavate the soil. They were no ‘jembes’ or ‘pangas’ around.
After some hours the grave was ready. It was just a minimal trench that would fit the remains of the two sons. As they carried the sooty-grotesque bodies, tears from Liz eyes dripped.
‘Hold the lower part of the limbs as I hold this upper side.’ Carl said as he held the fluffy part of the head.
As they reached the grave like structure, Carl positioned the head down slowly and gazed at Liz.
‘Put it down slowly’
They buried their sons in the island. They pushed the soil back to the grave. They lay wild flowers which Liz had plucked from a certain bush. She sat on a certain granitic rock and stared at Carl. She remembered of her huge house in Washington D.C. where there were teeming city streets, glass skyscrapers, glitters and glitz and also the luxurious landscapes.
‘Was life made to be like this? We have lost our sons. They are barely 16yrs. What a life?’ Liz questioned as she gazed above.
‘Problems come in life Liz. This one was unexpected. You should even thank God for saving your life. You are alive and kicking.’ Carl responded
‘Its…’Liz was cut short
‘That doesn’t mean am not sobbing the death of our sons. I’m also grieving their loss’ he said as he squatted on the grassy area.
‘Carl, why aren’t you sad, I see you smiling; no sad face; is there something you are keeping behind my ass? Liz asked.
‘Honey, men are always jovial; by the way do you see men crying in burial?’
‘To some extent, I don’t. But don’t you feel pain for your own flesh and blood? Did their demise mean anything to you?’ Liz questioned holding her chin.
‘As a man, I feel it in my heart, but I can’t bear showing it physically like you do. Just don’t be angst-ridden.’ He responded

The Hombres in Negro Veils 2

Part one of this story here >>> PART ONE

The time was now 11.34am

We could not feel the chilly breathe that was emanating from the disorganized air that was being squashed by the roaring fans in the library. We could not feel the ample ambience of the library any more. We were losing our patients and our hope. Some of us had defecated on our bodies, children were crying, some were being bandaged while some came to the floor we were in and dropped down dead with shocking bullet holes drilled inside their bodies. The faces of the people around me both young and old looked terrified. We knew what was to be our fate despite the government efforts. We knew these people and what they usually did to hostages they captured. We had the feeling it is a lost battle. The only thing we would do was to hide. However, what if they lit the floor on fire? Alternatively, sprayed the entire floor with bullets and grenades? Hiding would not be of any help. Faking death by applying someone’s blood on our faces also could not be of any use. These people have the tendency to continue shooting as the lifeless body of an innocent citizen jumps up and down on the floor as the laugh at the top of their voices.

All I knew is that we would run and meet ourselves stranded at the topmost floor. I started trembling as I garnered some frail strength to keep we awake. I had the feeling that today was actually my last day to breathe the air of this world.Just as I was in my thinking closet about the current status quo, there was a HUGE explosion just at the floor below where I lay. I actually felt my body lifted up by the pressure it had exerted on the floor I was in. huge cracks had started protruding due to the effect of the explosion. The floor was threatening to sink in at the left corner of the library. The people in the library were all screaming and running towards the top floor. It was the only way to move away from all the troubles that were coming towards us. I felt as if I could make myself fall on the ground and cover myself with a fellow’s blood. I feared the consequences.

The Hombres in Negro Veils

The Hombres in Negro Veils

The time was 10am.

I was seated silently at my favorite corner inside the library. My long A4 books and fancy notebook together with those rare fancy biros you receive when you attend a conference at the likes of Kempinski Hotels; were just in front of me on top of the table. I was strategically placed such that I would view every corner of the entire huge library. I was the kind of person who got easily distracted when someone got up from their seats or when they started walking around the library. I kept peeping on them.

The structure of the library was big. It was 6 stories. I was in the Biology department which was situated in the 4th floor. Mind you, it was a spacious hall. As a biology body, it had various artifacts that made it wonderful and beautiful. The hall had an aquarium where different kind of fish swum, there were two huge man-made human skeletons on the sides and also some enclosed algae plantations still inside the library. The hall had in addition, 360 rotating executive seats. The long windows and numerous fans made the massive hall conducive for learning activities despite the large number of readers who were seated doing their et cetera. At the very entrance, long alternating shelves lined up the walls of the entrance showcasing the numerous books in store for us at the library, forming some kind of an aisle that led inside the 4th floor.

Cain and Abby

They arrived at the homestead. She loved the compound at first sight. Cain walked ahead of her and opened the door for her letting her get inside. He later locked the door from behind. He directed her to the couch and made her comfortable by giving her some pieces of newspapers to read as he hurriedly walked into the kitchen. He quickly started preparing some tea while he checked other things to ensure they were ready e.g. Bread and blueband. In an African setting, like that of Cain, a visitor was welcomed with tea and bread no matter the hour of the day as he/she awaited the meal. This is what Cain was currently doing.

Within 20 minutes, the tea was ready and since it was getting late, he quickly served her breakfast as he removed the newspapers she was engrossed in at the couch’s end.

“Thank you, very much. This is so kind of you”. She said

25yr old Female ♀ Teacher in a Boy’s School

31st Dec 2016.

This was to be the last day of 2016. I was happy and I didn’t know why. I just felt happy inside my heart. Maybe it was because of Josh. I knew I would meet him today. “Damn!  It was long since I hugged someone like him. A light skin built kind of a man” I told myself as I glared my self at the mirror. I still had my white  bathroom gown on. I sat in front  of the mirror and did my hair and make up. I was definitely awesome. I smiled and did some unique calculated grimaces on the mirror to ascertain that my look was perfect. I was dayum. I did my nails and also my eye brows too. My hair was the curly type. It went well with the shape of my head. I wasn’t that awful. I tried my best to always stand out. I walked to my bed side and dropped my bathroom gown on the mat next to the bed. I walked in my newborn suit to the cabinet And chose my best and  colorful  undergarments. I knew something weird would happen and I needed to be colorful everywhere. I guess you understand what I mean. I needed to be that perfect. I took my date  dress and put it on. That dress wasn’t the everyday wear. It was secured for awesome days. A day like this one. So sometimes, I would go up to one month without it having my scent.

Costa lifted her up and started walking towards one of the private rooms. The club’s wall was lined with silver plated rims together with the rare shiny sapphires, which made the aisle to the insides extremely gorgeous. The blue red dim lights along the aisle were just ‘on point’ was they anchored them towards their final destination. Costa held her up above his torso as he walked. Their hungry lips would say high to each other as they continued walking. Little did he know Kate’s plan. Deep inside her, she also had that negative feeling that anything would happen to her. The fact that she had seen the weapon for mass destruction inside his coat, she felt threatened. Nevertheless, she kept herself strong.

They arrived at a certain dark corridor with minimal romantic lights leading to a gold-plated door. He walked until he halted at the doorstep. At the top of the door, was a plate written ‘COSTA’. It was his private room. He slowly put her down and placed his right palm on the sensor at the door, which recognized him. The door opened after a number of clicks. He lifted her up once again and walked inside locking the door using his leg. He dropped her on the massive bed. She glowed in beauty. Using her investigative eyes, she started observing the room’s contents and design. She explored the interiors seductively as she exhumed every part of herself that she wanted Costa to view. She knew how to keep him interested. She kept turning and twisting on top of the bed as she glared at the room’s beauty.

In front of her, was a huge screen that showed the ongoing inside the club. She would see her friends Sharon and Clare taking strange men for a ride as they danced electrically. She was positive about the plan.
