The investment of a nation towards its prosperity is a great promise of a successful nation. A nation’s prestige and royalty is always summed up by the patriotism in it. The roles and responsibilities of citizens in a nation always define patriotism. A nation prestige is always exemplified by its cultural backgrounds, peace, pride of its riches, resource utilization and the beauty of its surroundings.
Culture is always defined by arts, traditions, custom of a region, wisdom, values and trends as well as the lifestyle of the people. There exists diverse cultures with different backgrounds but cultural interaction is always rated as none or minimal. Margret Maed, an American Cultural Anthropologist once said if we are to achieve a richer culture rich in contrasting values we must recognize the whole
gamut of human potentialities and so weave a less arbitrary social fabric one in which each diverse human gift will find a fitting place. Hence, citizens should join hands to weave a nation that shows the supreme power of cultural interaction.
Environment involves living and non-living things in their habitats. In the 21ST century, environmental degradation has been a rising concern in the world some of the associated effects being: Ozone layer depletion, Global warming, Loss of biodiversity, desertification among others. Awareness should be created among citizens on the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability so as to: take care of our water Sources, avoid extinction of some species, avoid release of pollutant gases and preservation for the next generations.
The riches of a nation are always described by the efficient resources the nation/country is endowed with. Resource depletion is becoming a major hurdle due to non-equitable distribution of resources, over-exploitation of natural resources for example in areas where gold mines are deepening and miners risk their lives for the prestige of their nation. An intelligent and sure way to put an end to resource depletion is through conservation, population control and engaging in helpful human activities like planting trees.
A nation which is always described as a solace and a haven of peace is often a source of inspiration and an intervention for many tourists to pay a visit. Some of the causes of undesirable turmoil are resource competition, racial discrimination, conflict of interest among others. However, terrorism and mushrooming sects have become a threat to our pillars of serenity. Martin Luther King, an activist, said darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do, Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do. In light of Martin Luther’s wisdom words citizens should be enlightened to renounce darkness and hate and embrace love and light in peace.
Education on which appears to be in dim-light nowadays is also a primary factor in building literate upright nation. This is a promissory objective towards moulding a radiant and self-reliant nation. Humanity literacy is a key factor to a jubilant nation hence citizens should make education part of their responsibility.
In the quest of a blissful future, citizens should make their responsibilities part and parcel of their lives and this will be a ticket to prosperity. John Lennon, an English musician, once said that I’m a dreamer but I am not the only one I hope someday you’ll join us and the world will live as one. This will be my dream to that all nations will live up to their roles and responsibilities and someday I to dream that build a bridge to our prosperity and prestige all under the description we all invested in it.
